School Meals

School meals are cooked in our own kitchen on site by Orian Food Services and are attractively presented. Our aim is to achieve a calm and ordered lunchtime providing a caring environment for all the children and staff. We sit as a ‘family’ setting and the older children serve and look after the younger ones around their table. This way, all the pupils are encouraged to build their social skills, patience, responsibility for others and above all how to be a polite, well mannered individual. The teachers take a turn to sit with the children, it gives both the staff and pupils the opportunity to get to know each other better. After eating lunch the children go outside to play. Playtime uses a ‘buddy’ system for the Reception and Nursery children, this nurtures a feeling of responsibility for each other.

We use Orian’s system called Lunchshop to co-ordinate school meals. Lunchshop is an online ordering and payment system enabling parents to go online and order meals up to 3 weeks in advance. Parents can also pay for meals online, simply topping-up their balance when required. Infant (Reception to Year 2) meals are free. Nursery and Year 3 to Year 6 meals at present are £2.50 per day, £12.50 per week. Parents are welcome to join us for a school meal as long as they order the meal before 9.30am on that day.

If a child is absent from school and does not have a school dinner, it is the parent’s responsibility to cancel the order on Lunchshop before 9.30am to receive a refund. However, if a child goes home after that time, and their lunch has been ordered, the meal will still have to be paid for.

Free school meals are available if parents/guardians are receiving one of the following qualifying benefits:
