Plumpton School Council

Plumpton School Council is run by the children for the benefit of all children, ensuring that Plumpton School is the best place to be for everyone!

We are currently elected to represent children from Year 2 to 6, and we meet twice a month to discuss ideas which can improve our school for all of the children.

Last year the School Council began the huge task of helping to raise money for the refurbishment of the school playground. This is a community effort and this year’s School Council have helped to fundraise by baking, carol singing, bag packing and have lots of other events to take place over the course of this school year. These events include a craft workshop, a pudding night and a summer fair.

The School Council have welcomed Cllr Christine Bowditch (Chair of Cumbria County Council) and Dr Neil Hudson (MP for Penrith and the Borders) to our school. Our Chair and Vice Chair of the School Council showed both of our VIPs around school and both Cllr Bowditch and Dr Hudson were very impressed!

Another major part of our School Council is to join with other children from our cluster schools each term. This year our Chair and Vice Chair will represent Plumpton School at meetings at Upfront Gallery and Cranston’s Food hall. Next Year will see the School Council representatives heading back to London for their bi-annual visit to the Houses of Parliament.
