Nature Club

The children and staff at Plumpton School are very proud to share our amazing school grounds with a hugely diverse range of wildlife. We are lucky to have a huge school field which includes a woodland coppice, an extensive hedgerow and even a slow running beck as well not to mention the school garden. Over the years we have spotted toads, common lizards, water voles, pheasants and rabbits to name a few wildlife species. Minibeasts lurk all around our school grounds and the nest boxes made by pupils are homes for families of house sparrows and blue tits.

Plant life is equally important, and our nature team help sustain our environment by tending to the plants in our flowerbeds, fruit trees in various sites as well as the vegetables, salads and herbs which grow in the kitchen garden.

Living on the edge of the Lake District brings extremes of weather and our weather watchers in KS1 monitor the outside temperature on a daily basis to track seasonal variation.

The nature team ensure that wildlife at Plumpton School is able to thrive and they can be regularly be seen out and about during playtimes. Keep an eye on their noticeboard for any unusual sightings or jobs to do!
