Here at Plumpton School, we are very proud of our house system. Houses are important, as they create community spirit and give the children an opportunity to contribute to something bigger that involves children from all year groups. The house point system encourages pupils to become responsible citizens, successful learners and confident individuals. It also enhances their development of respect for each other and for their community.

Every pupil is allocated one of four houses based on Lakeland passes, each associated with a colour:

  • Kirkstone – Blue

  • Newlands -Red

  • Hartside – Yellow

  • Whinlatter – Green

Siblings will be allocated the same house and any new pupils that arrive during the academic year will be allocated a house.

Pupils can earn house points for good behaviour, effort, school work and homework and for demonstrating the values displayed on our Values Tree. The points are totalled each week, with the winning house mentioned in Special Praise Assembly on Friday afternoon, along with the running total for the whole term. Pupils in the overall winning house receive a special treat; a visit, movie afternoon, picnic etc which is decided by the School Council.
